Solicitor of the Year award for Paragon’s founder

Thalej Vasishta, MD and founder of Paragon Law, picked up the Solicitor of the Year Award for the third time in his career at the 2009 Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards.

The annual black tie event recognises the contribution made by firms, teams and individuals from across the county’s legal profession and this year’s awards were presented by the guest speaker, former BBC political correspondent and Strictly Come Dancing star, John Sergeant.

Thalej founded Paragon Law in 2003, having qualified as a solicitor with Nottingham law firm Berryman.

Speaking of his award: “Paragon is beginning to help shape immigration law in the country with cases in the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords,” he said. “We believe we’re a forward thinking practice. I am very proud to have won the Solicitor of the Year Award and look forward to building on the success over the coming year as Paragon expands its operations into China.

The Society gave out four other awards:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Michael Hammond

  • Young Solicitor of the Year Paul Olliff, of Browne Jacobson

  • Trainee Solicitor of the Year: Victoria Gaskell, of Freeth Cartwright

  • Pro-bono Solicitor of the Year: Richard Nelson, of Richard Nelson Solicitors
