Summary of role

Level two accredited senior caseworker with responsibility for an active asylum case load consisting of a mixture of Level One restricted work together with appeals to the AIT (including reconsideration), higher court work, judicial review and resisting removals. 

Essential

1. Eligible to work full time in the UK for three years from the date of engagement.

2. Ability to communicate fluently in English; both orally and in writing.

3. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in any discipline in the UK or overseas.
4. Accredited to Level Two (senior caseworker) of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation scheme operated by the Law Society.

5. Experience of having sole conduct of an active asylum case load.

6. Experience of meeting both strict external deadlines and internal financial targets.

7. Experience of working under a Legal Services Commission contract.

8. Experience of preparing appeals to the AIT and of conducting Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children work.

9. Commitment to assisting those deserving of protection in the UK.

Desirable

1. Law degree (or equivalent) in the UK or overseas.

2. Ability to communicate fluently in foreign language(s); orally and/or in writing.

3. Accredited Supervisor under the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation scheme operated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

4. Experience of reconsideration work, higher court, judicial review and resisting removals.

5. Own transport and a full, clean UK driving licence.

6. A current Criminal Records Bureau check.

1. Salary – negotiable.

2. Annual leave – 20 days per annum (not including public holidays).
